You can just start sharing to the person as to what you do for a living.

The reason as to why your date doesn't talk that much is because she is feeling uneasy. Here's what you should do, don't ask a lot of things. Ask the usual questions and make sure it's not so controversial or personal. Make your date feel comfortable. You could inject some humor into your conversation to make her feel more comfortable. Don't forget to be polite. Avoid using some profane words. Be a gentleman and be a good listener. Don't let your eyes wander around when your date talks. It will make her more feel uneasy.

First Date Talk Tip #3 Talk about music, movies, places and such

There are so many topics that you can choose from. If you are both music lovers, you can talk about music. Almost everyone loves music. Ask your date as to what genre of music she's into. Moreover, you can further ask about her favorite band. When it comes to places, sharing your latest travel experience is interesting. You could also ask her to as to what places she's traveled to. Ask her what she likes and dislikes about that certain place. Pretty sure, both of you share a lot of things. Ask your date what her hobbies are. If it involves some extreme sports that you can relate to then you can share some information. If you have some common interest in sports, maybe you can invite her for a second date that involves the sport that you both enjoy.
