Date Questions to Ask - How to Carry Good Conversations On a Date

Are you running out of topics to talk about during a first date? Do you let your date lead the conversation? Do you get tongue-tied during your first dates because you run out of date questions to ask? You are not alone.

First dates are usually the "make or break" indicators for a serious relationship. It is where likes and dislikes, common areas of interest and personal information are discovered. First dates should be fun so don't stress yourself out too much by thinking of date questions to ask. Avoid talking about emotional stuff and instead focus on getting to know each other first.

Here are some tips on figuring out date questions to ask which can help you out in carrying conversations.

Tip # 1: Know the basic stuff

You obviously want to know personal stuff about him like where he's from, his age, where he studied, etc. From that point of conversation, it'll surely branch out to more questions. Just make sure you're not too nosy about stuff like his income and his family. Date questions to ask about these topics are brought out when you've gone out in more frequent dates or when you're in a serious relationship already. Make sure you also talk about your personal info so he'll know you as well.

Tip # 2: Know his interests

Uncovering what he likes will make him feel you're interested in him. Conversations about his favourite food, movie genre, music or book can spring into more interesting date questions to ask. You can also ask about where he likes to hang out, if he smokes, drinks or plays sports. This is where you'll both find out how many things you like in common, which is important when you're considering him as a future boyfriend. And just like you, your date is most likely to be checking out if you'll blend well together because of your same interests.

Tip # 3: Flirt

Flirting is one way of spicing up your conversation. Ask questions on what he likes in a girl, what type of relationship is he looking for - ready for commitment, just having fun, or let's see where this goes. He'll also ask you questions on what you like about a guy. You can watch for body languages if the guy is interested with you or not. If things go well on a first and second date, chances are the third date will have more flirting than conversations.

Tip #4: Ask about past relationships

If a guy likes you, he will usually bring up topics about his past relationships. This is because he wants you, to feel that he trusts you and that you will not judge him based on his past relationships. Sometimes, when a guy is really candid, he might end up talking about embarrassing or unforgettable dates he's had in the past. This will really lighten the mood and will put you both in a position to ask more date questions about each other.
