Top Online Dating Mistakes to Avoid

Thanks to the Internet, you can readily find a single and eligible guy to date. But even if everything is conducted in the cyber world, that doesn't mean there are rules of etiquette to live by. If you want 100% success guaranteed, make sure you avoid committing any of the online dating mistakes listed below.

Tip #1: No Photos = No Interest

One of the worst online dating mistakes you can ever make is not to post a profile photo. The Internet has a way of making people feel more impatient. Anything that's not handed to them on a silver platter is immediately discarded. That's why if you don't have your most recent and best-looking photo uploaded, you're unlikely to have single guys asking you out online.

Tip #2: An Empty or Blank Profile = No Interest

For some guys, seeing a girl's face is enough. But be honest. Would you really be interested in dating someone who's purely into looks? Won't you rather date someone who also cared enough to know what kind of person you are?

That's why not having a detailed profile page is also one of the worst online dating mistakes you can do. Your photo is responsible for capturing a guy's attention at first, but it's what's written on your profile page that could deepen the interest into attraction.

Tip #3: Don't trust everything you see or read.

In case you're the one doing the searching, one of the top online dating mistakes you should avoid at all cost is to trust everything you see or read online. The same goes if a stranger online asks you for your contact details.

Before giving your contact information, be sure to do a bit of fact-digging first. If you met or saw the guy on a social networking website, do visit the guy's profile page and dig into his network. Check how long he has had his account. Alarm bells should ring if his account is fairly new and he doesn't have a lot of friends. You could be dealing with a con artist or even a sexual offender for all you know.

Tip #4: Join a paid dating website.

If you are truly serious about trying to find your match online then one of the worst online dating mistakes you can make is to focus all your attentions on free dating websites. With paid dating websites, you can at least be sure that the people you could meet on the website are of the same mind as you are. They, too, may not have enough time to actually go out and try looking for prospective partners but they're willing to give online dating a try.

Tip #5: Don't lie.

Being dishonest is perhaps the worst of all online dating mistakes you can ever make. Even if this is just an online date, there's no saying it can't or won't develop into something more serious. But how can it do so if you have started with the wrong foot by being dishonest about yourself?
