Where is the Best Place to Look For Love?

Before I tell you my answer, I want to know what you think is the best place to look for love. Match.com? Date.com? Singles clubs?

Here's my answer: the best place for love is no place in particular.

This is what I mean. Do you remember the financial advisers have always said, diversify, diversify, and diversify your portfolio? Yup, same here. To have the best return for your man-hunting, you have to diversify, diversify, and diversify. Don't keep going to one place, one source, and one friend to fix you up. You need a variety. Here are my top picks for the best places to look for love: I would recommend spend equal amount of time in each category ...

Spot #1: Online Dating.

Online dating saves you time, money (think about how much money you spend when you go out), and resources, if done right. The trick here is to (1) know exactly what you're looking for, (2) have a few questions you ask to filter out the ugly frogs with criminal backgrounds (such as asking the guy to send you multiple pictures, not just one and checking to see if his stories add up), and (3) always meet in public for the first few dates. But don't let this suck up all your time, because you need time to ...

Spot #2: Ask Friends and Family Members to Fix You Up.

These people tend to know you pretty well and want to watch out for you, this is a huge advantage. Don't be embarrassed to ask around! You're born to be in love and make a cute couple with a gorgeous guy, so go for it!

Spot #3: Places Where People with Similar Hobbies Go To

A woman looks her best when she is engaged in something she's passionate about. If you really like something such as hiking, camping, or reading interesting books, join a club or an organization that gathers people with your interests. Make sure it's not "Women Only" though! I know you love your hobby, but I have a feeling that you'll love sharing your hobby with a cute guy more :) It's like being in love TWICE!

Look For Love: Where To Look!

Do you wonder about the best places to look for love? Are you in a new city or school or work environment, and just don't know where to start? Wouldn't it be great to have some real pointers on how to start looking for love in your life? There's an old country song that talks about "looking for love in all the wrong places." But where are the right places to look when you want to start a real relationship? Take a look at some tips on where - and where not-to look for love, and find out for yourself.

Look for love in places that interest you.

If you're looking for someone with whom you can be compatible, why not look for love in the types of places where people with similar interests hang out? If you're an opera buff, you might not find the right man at the rodeo. But let's say that you're a real football fan. Maybe you can join a singles' group for sports lovers in your city. Getting together with a group of like-minded sports fans can make for an enjoyable experience, and you just might meet a single guy who cheers for the same collegiate team. If you enjoy political debate, team up with other volunteers in the next campaign for your favorite candidate. If your spirituality is an important part of your life, check the next pew! Many larger churches are now sponsoring singles' events so that people with similar backgrounds and values can meet and date.

Look for love online.

When it first began, online dating was considered a bit suspect. Now it seems that everyone is doing it. The online dating scene offers a promising landscape in which to look for love. If you play it safe, online dating can give you many more choices than you will find just by scouring your neighborhood. You will be able to find out a lot of information about a person before you ever even commit to that first date. Try dating sites that look for compatibility and try to pair people based on interests and values and not just the hotness of their profile photo. And always remember that people you meet online are strangers, so exercise reasonable caution in sharing information about yourself or arranging to meet.

Don't look for love in "all the wrong places."

As you look for love, try not to let desperation make you love for love in a few of the wrong places. For instance, looking for Mr. Right in the workplace is probably not a good idea in general, and many companies even have rules against fraternization among employees. If you're thirsty, by all means go to a bar for a drink, but contrary to popular belief, that's not going to be the most likely place to find lasting love. You might get a lot of pick-up offers, but at this point in your life, you're looking for something a bit longer lasting and with more substance.

Sometimes we find love when and where we least expect it, so always keep yourself open to the possibility of finding true love. But by putting yourself in the right place at the right time, and knowing where to look for love, you will increase your opportunities to find someone with whom you can share a meaningful relationship.

Now Revealed! Where Comic Book Fans Like Me Can Find Love and Dates

I want your ugly, I want your disease / I want your everything as long as it's free / I want your love / Love, love, love, I want your love - Lady Gaga, Bad Romance lyrics

I refuse to call myself a nerd, dork, or any other possibly self-deflating term. But, I have always loved comic books and super heroes, so let me use that as a way to open this article about dating and finding love. Comic book fans can find love and happiness, too.

Yes, we all know it can be tough finding a date and love match. I remember how it was back before I met my wife. You hear talk about love and dating and get tired of hearing it. It's always love, love, love. And not everyone finds someone as easily as Clark Kent found Lois Lane. (And even then it took them decades to tie the knot.). But, I am confident with my experience and advice that you can find dates and love.

I met my wife in college by taking the initiative and asking her out. That is one piece to the love puzzle, stepping out of your comfort zone. Another piece is being on the lookout. Do not leave everything up to destiny when it comes to love. You have to take the love bull by the horns and make him work for you. Finding love and a quality relationship starts by putting out the effort and looking. While the tight and toned athletes and those with much money have women chasing them, you need to look if you are among the 90 percent of other guys.

Furthermore, while it would be amazing and sexy to find love and a relationship at a comic book store (I'm being serious!), that likely won't happen. Not every woman appreciates super heroes and the world of four color panels like my wife. That said, I believe you will not find love and a quality relationship at the bar. So, where to start?

I suggest trying online dating sites to find love. They are all over the Internet now like love kiosks. Some dating sites like SinglesNet and PlentyofFish are even free. I have known many people who use the Internet to find love and dates. It can work. Let me run some numbers by you.

One in 5 singles have dated someone they met on a dating site, according to datingsitesreviews.com. Finding a match online is not uncommon these days. It is perfectly acceptable to find love and a date online.
Also, according to datingsitesreviews.com, married couples who met online have an average courtship period of 18.5 months. Married couples who met offline have a courtship period that lasts on average 42 months. So, dating online is a faster way to find your perfect match and love.

If you are looking for love, take a small step out of your comfort zone and try an online dating site. Many sites are simple to use and will not even take much time. For example, I know at SinglesNet, you can search for matches by only putting in your Zip code and telling the Web site if you are looking for a man or woman. The database then brings up love matches in your area. You can become one of those lucky people who one day say, "I love Love."

And face it, who does not love Love. Love is a concept and feeling we all need in our lives. I am confident if you take a chance and try searching an online site for a date, you will find some good ones. Then, maybe next time you hear of someone bragging about his or her spouse, you won't think, "Love, love, love, bah humbug."

One final note, when you do meet your love match, move confidently. The article Attracting Women With Body Language - Using Your Body To Attract Girls 101 by Dean James states moving confidently means "...not fidgeting, or shaking, just because you see the girl you like, or your dream girl sits beside you. A lot of females get turned off when they see men who are nervous, or don't have enough confidence."

Fellow fanboys, love and happiness await. And who knows, maybe every guy has a Lois Lane, Shiera Hall, or Mary Jane Watson out there. Maybe it just takes a little work to find her.
